The Fun of the Sea

The second half of the Summer Term is whizzing by and Class 1 are enjoying the new theme of ‘Fun at the Sea.’  Already we have built campsites, opened the Seaside Café, (which makes a fantastic cup of tea and cookie) and we have experimented with a great deal of water and mud play, thanks to our brand new outside tap!  All this play has allowed our curriculum learning to be great fun.  We have been experimenting with money, role-playing and developing our language and social skills not to mention writing messages in a bottle in the hope that someone can save us from the pesky pirates!  We are working hard on forming numerals and letters properly, singing lots of songs and we hope to make and enjoy some pirate pancakes very soon!  (Unsure of the link between pirates and pancakes but if fits in with the opportunity to explore alliteration perfectly!)

We have introduced ‘mystery bag’ and alongside it being very exciting for the children, it works brilliantly to develop communication skills of listening, responding and questioning.

We want the children to share more about holidays and days out and would very much appreciate you talking to your child about past events, sharing memories and photographs at home.  We may ask that these be sent into school to create a display for discussion.
