The children in our preschool and Reception class are learning all about themselves this half term – the topic being All About Me ! We have found out how our senses help us including using our tastebuds to sample some tasty foods and also learning about how important it is to keep our bodies healthy and active. We have had a visit from Janice from the School Nursing Team who showed us all how to wash our hands properly – remembering Patty Palms and Freddie Fingers too ! The children had a visit to the United Reformed Church in Forton to see the harvest display and learn about what Christians do to celebrate this festival. We were lucky enough to be given some delicious vegetables which we made into a pasta sauce which we enjoyed at our morning snack time.
The children have been loving the Funnybones and Mr Men books and enjoying our daily Relax and Read sessions after lunch. It has been busy in our class hospital role play area with lots of super imaginative language and storytelling and this has now evolved (at the children’s request) into other emergency services with police and fire officers dealing with ‘emergencies’ in Class 1 !!
