In order for our pupils to be able to achieve their full potential, we ensure that the curriculum is taught through quality first teaching using well-structured and creative units of work.
Our curriculum is planned within the requirements of the National Curriculum. This is adapted to meet the needs and interests of our pupils.
Letters and Sounds are taught through daily Phonics sessions in Class 1 and Class 2. We also use Phonics Play in our teaching sessions which includes interactive games to help children to learn the sounds of the six phonics phases. More detailed information for parents can be found on the Phonics Play website.
Here at Forton Primary we follow a range of reading schemes to ensure the children have access to a variety of text; such as Oxford Reading Tree, Collins Big Cats, Bug Club, Sound Start, Fireflies, Snapdragons, Alphablocks, Read Write Inc and Songbirds.
