Safeguarding

Forton School is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for children, staff and visitors and promoting a climate where children and adults will feel confident about sharing any concerns which they may have about their own safety or the well-being of others.

Because of day to day contact with children, schools are particularly well placed to observe outward signs of abuse, changes in behaviour or failure to develop. Parents should be aware, therefore that, if ever there is a situation where it appears to a member of staff that a child has been abused, the school is required, as part of the local Child Protection procedures, to report its concern to Social Services immediately.

Mrs Janet Huddart is our Governor with responsibility for ensuring our child protection procedures are strictly followed and in our small school all members of staff are involved in promoting children’s wellbeing and safety.
